Chocolate Buttermilk Waffles Ingredients
1/2 cups of all purpose flour
scant 1/3 cups of white whole wheat flour
3/4 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of salt
3 tablespoon of cocoa powder
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cups of buttermilk
1/4 cups of vegetable oil or melted butter

- In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, and sugar.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the remaining ingredients.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the mixed wet ingredients.
- Whisk together until smooth.
- Pour batter into a hot, greased waffle iron and cook according to waffle maker directions (generally this is a couple minutes, until steam stops coming out of the iron).
- Sprinkle with chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or any other garnish that you like.
