Chocolate Buttermilk Waffles Ingredients

  • 1/2 cups of all purpose flour

  • scant 1/3 cups of white whole wheat flour

  • 3/4 teaspoon of baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

  • 3 tablespoon of cocoa powder

  • 1 tablespoon of sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla

  • 1 cups of buttermilk

  • 1/4 cups of vegetable oil or melted butter

Chocolate Buttermilk Waffles Directions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, and sugar.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together the remaining ingredients.
  • Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the mixed wet ingredients.
  • Whisk together until smooth.
  • Pour batter into a hot, greased waffle iron and cook according to waffle maker directions (generally this is a couple minutes, until steam stops coming out of the iron).
  • Sprinkle with chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or any other garnish that you like.
